headspace is the National Youth Mental Health Foundation. Our aim is to reduce the number of young people aged 12 to 25 who are experiencing problems caused by mental health and related drug and alcohol use. We are achieving this aim through a number of initiatives including funding 30 community based youth mental health services across Australia. headspace services will provide a range of options to young people including access to mental health and drug and alcohol workers and education, employment and training assistance. headspace is also raising awareness about mental health through its Community Awareness Program which encourages young people and their families to get help early. headspace is supporting professionals who work with young people by providing them with the latest information on best practice and education and training to improve their skills.
Inspire creates opportunities for young people aged 16-25 to change their world. By “their world”, we mean whatever is real for them. This could be struggling with depression or suicidal thoughts, wanting to do something for their local community or simply experiencing new ways to learn and grow.

The main aim of a partnership between the Brain & Mind Research Institute (BMRI) and the Sunrise Foundation would be to improve the mental health literacy of young people by raising awareness about depression and its impact. The partnership would facilitate the promotion of training elite athletes as role models and educators for young people. The Brain & Mind Research Institute would provide support to the Sunrise Foundation in terms of capacity building, particularly research and development activities. More specifically, the BMRI will provide methodological expertise for the evaluation of training and community awareness programs.
