Jane is the Director of Research and Policy at Inspire and holds a VicHealth Public Health Research Fellowship (2006-2010) with Melbourne University. Jane grew up in South Australia completing her PhD in Medicine at the University of Adelaide. Jane’s career reflects her commitment to young people and her belief that she can help to make a difference. She was a Commonwealth Fund Harkness Fellow in 2004-2005 spending a year in the US at UCSF comparing US and Australian strategies and approaches to the prevention and treatment of depression in young people.
Jane established and managed beyondblue’s youth agenda (2000-2004). She began her work in Adolescent Health at the Royal Children's Hospital where she was awarded a National Health and Medical Research Council Fellowship to undertake prevention research in youth suicide, depression, drug and alcohol use. Jane is a Director of the Sunrise Foundation (Prevention of Depression in Young Men founded by AFL footy star Wayne Schwass) and a founding member of the Australian Research Alliance for Children and Youth.
